As part of hybrid working at King’s, team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>About The Role</strong></p><p>The King’s Digital UXDev/Learning Technology team is a multidisciplinary team combining UX research, design, and web development expertise. We work collaboratively within and beyond the department to enhance our virtual learning environment for fully online learning. Our team maintains a modular in-house Design System for Moodle, built on Bootstrap, which enables content editors to create engaging, accessible, and consistent online learning experiences. We also lead on the integration of new technologies to support innovative teaching approaches—whether that’s helping students plan their studies more effectively or embedding tools that allow them to practise coding and data skills.</p><p><br></p><p>As an Educational Technologist, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Learning Technology and the wider King’s Digital team, blending technical and pedagogical expertise to ensure educational technologies enhance online teaching. You’ll contribute to and manage both strategic projects and day-to-day support, including troubleshooting, testing, training, and guidance—all aimed at improving the online learning experience.</p><p><br></p><p>While many of the tools we use are common across the sector, our context demands creativity, long-term thinking, and a strong focus on user experience. You’ll need to be able to tackle a wider range of technical systems and academic/production needs to support the implementation of high-quality, sustainable solutions. We are also connected to the central University by our systems and users, so the role requires a strong ability to think, collaborate and communicate across teams and departments to build the best possible online learning experience for our students.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a unique opportunity to join a unique sector-leading team and work alongside passionate, knowledgeable colleagues with a wide range of expertise, and really contribute to the development of excellent global online education.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>About You</strong></p><p>To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:</p><p><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p><ol><li>A degree in education, educational technology, information technology, digital media, or other related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Relevant experience could including supporting virtual learning environments, delivering digital learning tools, working with academic colleagues and students to enhance technology-enabled teaching and learning.</li><li>Significant experience supporting and administering VLEs and learning technologies in an educational context, including Moodle, Kaltura, H5P and Microsoft 365 Apps.</li><li>Proven experience of successful service and project management and delivery - including planning, requirements gathering, execution, and evaluation.</li><li>Proven organisational skills and task management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work flexibly to meet deadlines.</li><li>Evidenced excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to approach and resolve issues in a professional, timely, practical and sustainable manner.</li><li>Demonstrable excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex or technical information to audiences with different levels of expertise.</li><li>Demonstrable excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to follow processes and help define or improve them to ensure consistent standards are met.</li><li>Proven ability to work in a team and collaborate for best outcomes. Committed to diversity and inclusion, valuing other perspectives, supporting when required, and providing critical expertise and leadership when needed.</li></ol><p><strong>Desirable criteria</strong></p><ol><li>Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive educational practices and technical standards.</li><li>Experience of educational technology in a higher education context.</li><li>Previous experience of, or focus, on fully online education.</li><li>Working knowledge of and experience with HTML/CSS and related front end web technologies and frameworks.</li><li>Understanding and/or experience of the use of Learning Analytics or AI in education.</li></ol><p><br></p><p><strong><em>Please do not submit a cover letter.
